Professional Development For Artists

Feedback, Support, and Strategic Advice with Classes & Mentoring

My guarantee is that if you sign up and don't like it within two weeks, I will refund your money, no questions asked.

This is an International School, based in New York City, that is devoted to growing the professional career of artists who want to advance in all levels of the art world from the Venice Biennial to street sales of art. The school was founded by Brainard Carey and his wife, Delia Carey, who are successful artists as well as entrepreneurs and authors.

There are two levels that you can enter this program. The highest level is for those already mid way through their career looking to focus on the most ambitious goals in the art world like getting into major biennials, art fairs, and the best galleries. That is the Master level, and comes with all the resources of this school, including personal questions answered on an ongoing basis.

The other level is the Professional Development 101 which is required if you haven't had many exhibits in the art world or many sales. It will give you resources and updates on all the latest news and tips on how to get the relationships you need and the shows you want.
With both levels you get a weekly digest as well as access to a growing updated resource of deadlines for grants, awards, jobs and residencies.
Regular Interviews from our Yale radio show, The Art World Demystified,  will also be added, so that the best minds in the art world will be keeping you updated on what you need to know to get your art seen.

Want the Free book about How I Got into the Whitney Museum Biennial?

Just sign up and you will get the booklet right away

This is what the former Director of The Whitney Museum said about the book;

"The global art world of the 21st century is increasingly complex, and hard-hearted.  Tens of thousands of art school graduates and self-educated artists enter the scene every year, and in their own way, each want to make a living from their work, while pursuing a meaningful career. The prospects for success are slim, yet the flow of new talent continues unabated.

In a remarkably useful guidebook for artists trying to find their way, the artist Brainard Carey has spelled out in a clear and concise manner, a series of strategies and techniques that, taken as a whole, are the equivilant of that elusive course in real-world preparedness that most art schools gloss over or simply ignore.  In addition to his thoughtful and thorough approach to the subject, Carey's candor and complete lack of cynicism and posturing makes this book a must-read for any emerging artist.
